Triplet Ortho-Apochromat (無畸變復消色差三合透鏡)

The latest Takahashi refractor, the triplet TOA-130, is the first of the new Ortho-Apochromat Series. This 21st century innovation employs a newly designed triplet using special elements to produce the highest order of color correction, hence the name Ortho-Apochromat and is packaged in a short 32” tube with the lens shade retracted. This instrument will be offered with the classic 2.7” focuser. The high order of color correction of the Ortho-Apochromat Series produces images with saturated color and thanks to the numerous knife-edged baffles, an image with amazing contrast. The model with 4" focuser specialized for astrophotography is also available. The TOA-130 is perfect for visual, CCD and photo imaging. The f/7.7 focal ratio with a 1000mm focal length is long enough, using the LE-ED 2.8mm Takahashi eyepiece, for high magnification observations of the Moon and planets and yet will produce a 2.5° field at 20x when used with the Takahashi flat field LE-50 2 “ eyepiece, with an additional 0.75x reducer, at 750mm f.l. and 15x, a field of 3.3° will be reached. Ample back focus, over 256mm from the back of OTA, has been designed in to permit the user to use a variety of CCD cameras, color filter wheels and electronic focusers or film cameras.

Concept

As for many of the advanced refracting telescope which presently is sold as the ED (the Extraordinary Dispersion anomalous dispersion glass is used), achromatic means using two different refractive index optical glass used to eliminate chromatic aberration,  which will not completely eliminated. If large portion of fault of aberration of the refracting telescope is chromatic aberration and chromatic aberration is gone completely, there is no cover in the opening different from reflection, it becomes non cover and non aberration optical system, to the diffraction limit by the aperture it becomes the ideal telescope. But when there is an axial over tone aberration and a spherical aberration of color in chromatic aberration of the refracting telescope and the compact thinking, it makes the lens where the F is bright, every color (every wave length) the bending of spherical aberration will become large, especially blue (the F line) to purple (the g line) wll be  increasing, contrast had decreased. As for the ED and fluorite lens, the refractive index is low, there was a tendency where in the lens of the secoondary  and 3rd aberration still occurs, furthermore spherical aberration of every of wave length becomes reduced.
With the Orthoscopic Apochromat, complete separated system (3 elements 3 groups), if separating 3 lenses which include 2 anomalous dispersion glass at optimum spacing, resulted in the whole spectrum with evenly correction of aberration. At F/ 7~8, the spherical aberration can be corrected perfectly.
The TOA -130 from the g line of the wave length 436nm to the C line of the 656nm at total wave length of visible light the gap of focal length has been settled within to positive or negative 0.01mm peak to peak at the aperture 130mm focal length 1000mm.
With wonderful effect on aberration correction, which is only of approximately 1/100 of the conventional apochromats telescope, it has reached the aberration quantity which is much smaller than the catadioptric system where correcting lens system applied. In addition, the secondary aberration is so low throughout the ultraviolet ends to the infrared ends, thus will be an ideal astrograph for the cooling CCD systems.

When applying the of 2 different lens elements, the TOA -130 optical efficiency attains highest. Very small central aberration from the focus falling, it reaches 2.9 microns at centre, but it has been less than the diffraction limit much, it deteriorates from central for very small amount. From the center to around 35mm size off axis 40mm within 8 microns of diffraction limit, to the  70mm off axis at light intensity 100% to the 80mm off axis within 15 microns and around the 6×7 it becomes non aberration optical system at light intensity 85% almost 20 microns over the entire field. Thanks to the lens back focus has guaranteed to 135mm (5.3"), also the installation of various observation equipment such as bino view and adaptic optics with the diagonal mirror is possible. The optical system is most reliable and excellent in applying with the cooling CCD of the large format size which is the main stream in the future imaging technique.
