The finest in premium telescope eyepieces.
The world standard in telescope oculars, Meade Series 4000 eyepieces yield the widest possible fields of view, consistent with pinpoint edge-of-field sharpness and long eye relief and yet with extremely low astigmatism, spherical aberration, and off-axis color. Incorporating 7-layer multi-coatings and edge-blackened optics for optimum image contrast, these sophisticated 4- to 8-element designs permit levels of optical performance generally impossible to achieve with eyepieces of fewer elements.

Our Series 4000 eyepieces are superb, with the Super Wide Angle 32mm and Ultra Wide Angle 14mm (two incredible eyepieces) being particular favorites of mine. The Super Plossls offer an extraordinary range of magnifications, with pinpoint resolution and high contrast to the extreme field edge. You might be interested to know that seven of my visual comet discoveries were made using Meade eyepieces. Over the past few years I have switched nearly every eyepiece in my observing set to Meade Series 4000 Super Plossls, Super Wides, and Ultra Wides.

All Series 4000 eyepieces include a soft rubber eyeguard, custom fitted to each eyepiece with a bayonet mount. The eyeguards fold down for eyeglass wearers, and in fact the folded eyeguard shields eyeglasses from coming into contact with the metal eyepiece housings. Rubber grips are provided on all but the three shortest focal length Super Plossl eyepieces.
Super Plossls:
Designed to utilize the very latest in optical glass types, Meade 4-element Super Plossls are excellent general-purpose eyepieces. For observing hairline lunar and planetary detail, splitting close double stars, or for resolving faint nebulosity in deep-space, Meade Super Plossls optimize the performance of any telescope type, whether f/10 Schmidt-Cassegrain, f/16 refractor, or f/4 reflector.
They also operate well in conjunction with the air-spaced design of the Meade #140 2x Apochromatic Barlow. All focal lengths through 32mm are parfocal. The Super Plossl 56mm eyepiece with 2" O.D. barrel yields 36X and an actual field of view of 1.4?on an 8" f/10 Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope.

Super Wide Angles: These 6-element eyepieces, with their 67?fields, offer exquisite wide-angle images at low-to-medium powers, ideal for star fields, galaxies, and other deep-space phenomena. Focal lengths with 1.25" barrels yield extremely high-resolution, high-power lunar and planetary images when combined with the #140 2x Barlow Lens. SWA eyepieces are a perfect match to Meade ETX telescopes; used with the Meade ETX-90EC, the Super Wide 18mm eyepiece, for example, yields 69X and actual field of almost 1?
Ultra Wide Angles: The ultimate in modern eyepieces, Meade 8-element Ultra Wide Angle eyepieces permit extreme image fidelity and sharpness over an amazing 84 deg apparent field. On an 8" f/10 Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope, for example, the Ultra Wide Angle 14mm eyepiece yields 143X and an actual field of view of 0.6? used with a 10" f/4.5 Newtonian reflector, the same eyepiece results in an actual field of more than 1degree at 82X. For moderate-to-high-power applications Meade Ultra Wide Angle oculars provide an uncommon observing experience. A magnificent optical match with Maksutovs, Schmidt-Cassegrains, apochromatic refractors, and fast Newtonians.

The Meade Series 4000 Zoom is an excellent addition to telescopes of all types, brands, and price levels, whether 60mm refractor, 8" Dobsonian, 90mm ETX, or 12" LX200 Schmidt-Cassegrain.
Conceived by one of the world leading designers of photo-optical instruments, this 7- element system provides an apparent field of 40deg at the 24mm setting, increasing continuously to a 55 deg field at 8mm. The internal zoom optics move on smooth, precisely

machined surfaces which maintain optical collimation at all zoom settings. A scale graduated in 1mm units indicates the zoom focal length in operation. All lenses are multi-coated for maximum light transmission and image contrast, while minimizing internal reflections. The chromed brass barrel is threaded for filters.

With its high-eyepoint optics and foldable rubber eyecup the Meade Series 4000 Zoom Eyepiece is comfortably usable by eyeglass wearers; even with eyeglasses the entire field of view is easily observable.

For dramatic increase in visual and photographic detail in deep-space emission and reflection nebulae.

Meade Series 4000 Nebular Filters incorporate the very latest in interference coatings technology. Each filter includes more than 40 coating layers to reject, with precision, unwanted light from urban light pollution while passing critical nebular emissions with minimal reduction.

Technical Basis of the Meade Broadband Nebular Filter: As shown in the transmission graph below, the Meade Broadband Nebular Filter strongly rejects the light of sodium- and mercury-vapor lights as well as natural airglow and auroral emissions. Conversely, the strong nebular emission spectral lines, transmitting in the visually sensitive regions primarily at 486nm (Hydrogen Beta, or H-alpha and 496 to 501nm (Oxygen-III, or OIII), are passed through the filter with high transmission percentages. The effect of the filter is that nebular light reaching the eye is observed visually in dramatically increased detail, while the effects of unwanted city lights are greatly reduced. The Meade Broadband Filter also passes photographically-important Hydrogen Alpha nebular light at 656nm largely unattenuated, making the filter a valuable aid in the photography of deep-space emission nebulae as well. The contrast between galaxies and the night-sky backdrop is also typically enhanced by the filter, but because galaxies emit light in a much broader range of wavelengths than nebulae, the effect is generally not as dramatic in these cases.

908B: Threads into the barrels of all Meade 1.25" eyepieces, and into the barrels of virtually all other 1.25" eyepiece brands as well. Clear aperture is 26mm.

#910B: Threads into the barrels of all Meade 2" eyepieces, as well as most other 2" eyepiece brands. Clear aperture is 44mm.

#911B: Threads onto the rear cells of Meade LX-series mirror-lens telescopes and onto Meade ED Apochromatic Refractors (using the Universal Thread Adapter), as well as to the rear cells of other Schmidt-Cassegrain brands. In this way the telescopes are converted into a basic nebular mode,? for visual observing or for photography with the T-Adapter or Off-Axis Guider. Clear aperture is 36mm.
