Our
Series 4000 eyepieces are superb, with the Super Wide Angle 32mm and Ultra
Wide Angle 14mm (two incredible eyepieces) being particular favorites of
mine. The Super Plossls offer an
extraordinary range of magnifications, with pinpoint resolution and high
contrast to the extreme field edge. You might be interested to know that
seven of my visual comet discoveries were made using Meade eyepieces. Over
the past few years I have switched nearly every eyepiece in my observing
set to Meade Series 4000 Super Plossls, Super Wides, and Ultra Wides. David Levy, Tucson, AZ |

All
Series 4000 eyepieces include a soft rubber eyeguard, custom fitted to
each eyepiece with a bayonet mount. The eyeguards fold down for eyeglass
wearers, and in fact the folded eyeguard shields eyeglasses from coming
into contact with the metal eyepiece housings. Rubber grips are provided
on all but the three shortest focal length Super Plossl
eyepieces. Super Plossls: Designed to utilize the very latest in optical glass types, Meade 4-element Super Plossls are excellent general-purpose eyepieces. For observing hairline lunar and planetary detail, splitting close double stars, or for resolving faint nebulosity in deep-space, Meade Super Plossls optimize the performance of any telescope type, whether f/10 Schmidt-Cassegrain, f/16 refractor, or f/4 reflector. |

Super Wide Angles: These 6-element eyepieces, with their 67?fields, offer exquisite wide-angle images at low-to-medium powers, ideal for star fields, galaxies, and other deep-space phenomena. Focal lengths with 1.25" barrels yield extremely high-resolution, high-power lunar and planetary images when combined with the #140 2x Barlow Lens. SWA eyepieces are a perfect match to Meade ETX telescopes; used with the Meade ETX-90EC, the Super Wide 18mm eyepiece, for example, yields 69X and actual field of almost 1? | ||

For dramatic increase in visual and photographic detail in deep-space emission and reflection nebulae. |
Meade
Series 4000 Nebular Filters incorporate the very latest in interference
coatings technology. Each filter includes more than 40 coating layers to
reject, with precision, unwanted light from urban light pollution while
passing critical nebular emissions with minimal reduction. Technical Basis of the Meade Broadband Nebular Filter: As shown in the transmission graph below, the Meade Broadband Nebular Filter strongly rejects the light of sodium- and mercury-vapor lights as well as natural airglow and auroral emissions. Conversely, the strong nebular emission spectral lines, transmitting in the visually sensitive regions primarily at 486nm (Hydrogen Beta, or H-alpha and 496 to 501nm (Oxygen-III, or OIII), are passed through the filter with high transmission percentages. The effect of the filter is that nebular light reaching the eye is observed visually in dramatically increased detail, while the effects of unwanted city lights are greatly reduced. The Meade Broadband Filter also passes photographically-important Hydrogen Alpha nebular light at 656nm largely unattenuated, making the filter a valuable aid in the photography of deep-space emission nebulae as well. The contrast between galaxies and the night-sky backdrop is also typically enhanced by the filter, but because galaxies emit light in a much broader range of wavelengths than nebulae, the effect is generally not as dramatic in these cases. 908B: Threads into the barrels of all Meade 1.25" eyepieces, and into the barrels of virtually all other 1.25" eyepiece brands as well. Clear aperture is 26mm. #910B: Threads into the barrels of all Meade 2" eyepieces, as well as most other 2" eyepiece brands. Clear aperture is 44mm. #911B: Threads onto the rear cells of Meade LX-series mirror-lens telescopes and onto Meade ED Apochromatic Refractors (using the Universal Thread Adapter), as well as to the rear cells of other Schmidt-Cassegrain brands. In this way the telescopes are converted into a basic nebular mode,? for visual observing or for photography with the T-Adapter or Off-Axis Guider. Clear aperture is 36mm. |
